Closing Market News April 17, 2007
The Dow closed up 52.58 at 12,773.04 and the Nasdaq was down 1.38 at 2516.95. The Dow high was 12,790.02 and the low was 12,707.45 for an 82.57 point range.
Total volume on the NYSE was average trading 1.57 billion shares. Up/down volume was about even, Nasdaq up/down volume was 1.23 to 1 positive.
June Oil futures closed down 1.21 at 64.46 and the May Natural Gas futures closed down .11 at 7.42.
June Gold futures closed down 2.00 at 692.50 and May Silver futures closed down 0.050 at 14.030.
Grains were mixed with July Wheat closing up 2 ½ cents at 490 ¾, July Beans were down 12 cents at 7.41 ¼, and July Corn was down 11 ¼ at 3.64 ¾.
June Live Cattle futures closed up 0.375 at 93.275 and May Feeder Cattle closed up 0.825 at 109.350. June Lean Hogs closed down .40 at 77.45.

AS I SEE IT: The market continued to move a little higher again today, but the short-term strengths are getting a little overbought here. The earnings reports are driving prices, so traders just need to go with the market momentum. Money talks, and right now the bulls have the money. When they get over margined we’ll get a good correction.
