Closing Market News December 24, 2007








The Dow closed up 98.68 at 13,549.33 and the Nasdaq closed up 21.51 at 2713.50. Transports closed up 62.54 at 4706.59.

Total volume on the NYSE was very light trading 536,572 thousand shares. Up/down volume was 3.55 to 1 positive, Nasdaq up/down volume was 2.59 to 1 positive.

Dec. E-mini S&P Futures closed up 8.50 at 1506.50 and the Dec. Nasdaq 100 Futures closed up 10.75 at 2148.00. Dec. E-mini S&P Futures total volume was light trading 18,827 contracts. March 30 Yr. T-Bond Futures closed down 0-21 at 114-11.

Feb. Oil Futures closed up .84 at 94.15 and Jan. Natural Gas Futures closed down .18 at 7.01.

Feb. Gold Futures closed up 1.10 at 816.50 and March Silver Futures closed up 0.172 at 14.660.

Grains were mixed with March Wheat Futures closing down 14 cents at 9.35, Jan Beans closed up 2 ½ at 11.18, and March Corn closed up ¾ of a cent at 4.44 ¼.

Feb. Live Cattle Futures closed down .95 at 94.575 and Jan Feeder Cattle closed down .25 at 103.575. Feb. Lean Hogs closed up 0.075 at 59.80.

AS I SEE IT: The market gapped higher on the regular session open and continued to rally until the last 15 minutes of trading. It did pull back a little at that time. Volume was very light so the market was pushed up easily. The market has had a three day rally so I’ll be watching market momentum to see if it can continue or if it is going to sell off again.
