Closing Market News January 25, 2008








The Dow closed down 171.44 at 12,207.17 and the Nasdaq closed down 34.72 at 2326.20. Transports closed up 1.82 at 4474.82.

Total volume on the NYSE was average trading 1.88 billion shares. Up/down volume was 2.58 to 1 negative, Nasdaq up/down volume was 2.59 to 1 negative.

March E-mini S&P Futures closed down 18.25 at 1334.00 and the March Nasdaq 100 Futures closed down 43.50 at 1793.50. March E-mini S&P Futures total volume was above average trading 2.53 million contracts. March 30 Yr. T-Bond Futures are trading up 1-02 at 120-01.

March Oil Futures closed up 1.30 at 90.71 and Feb. Natural Gas Futures closed up .18 at 7.98.

Feb. Gold Futures closed up 4.60 at 910.40 and March Silver Futures closed up 0.142 at 16.49.

Grains were higher with March Wheat Futures closing up 24 cents at 9.33, March Beans closed up 12 ½ cents at 12.43, and March Corn closed up 9 cents at 4.98 ¼.

Feb. Live Cattle Futures closed up 0.325 at 91.45 and March Feeder Cattle closed down .45 at 102.25. Feb. Lean Hogs closed at up .20 at 56.20.

AS I SEE IT: The market traded higher in overnight trading and after the regular session opening bell, but sellers came in and took it down for the remainder of the day. This market is very volatile so traders are having a good time trading it. Next week will be a very busy news week so I look for big price swings to continue.
