Closing Market News February 5, 2008






The Dow closed down 370.03 at 12,265.13 and the Nasdaq closed down 73.28 at 2309.57. Transports closed down 60.91 at 4675.37.

Total volume on the NYSE was average trading 1.67 billion shares. Up/down volume was 10.67 to 1 negative, Nasdaq up/down volume was 12.35 to 1 negative.

March E-mini S&P Futures closed down 35.50 at 1343.25 and the March Nasdaq 100 Futures closed down 41.75 at 1785.00. March E-mini S&P Futures total volume was above average trading 2.51 million contracts. March 30 Yr. T-Bond Futures are trading up 0-26 at 120.00.

March Oil Futures closed down 1.60 at 88.42 and Feb. Natural Gas Futures closed down .10 at 8.00.

April Gold Futures closed down 18.90 at 890.50 and March Silver Futures closed down 0.435 at 16.345.

Grains were mixed with March Wheat Futures closing up 29 ¾ cents at 10.03, March Beans closed down 3 cents at 13.23, and March Corn closed down ½ cent at 5.09 ¼.

April Live Cattle Futures closed up .70 at 94.625 and March Feeder Cattle closed up .75 at 105.50. Feb. Lean Hogs closed down .95 at 66.25.

AS I SEE IT: A very weak ISM Non-Mfg Survey sent the market lower today. For the last couple weeks the market has been trading up in a bear flag formation and today that broke to the bottom side again. Now I want to see if this market is going to check out the recent lows.
